Who we are
I’m a New York City architect who specializes in suburban residential projects, new home constructions and renovations. I studied art history at Williams College, where I won the Bruce Sanderson Prize for Architecture. Next I got my Master Degree in Architecture from the University of Virginia, a program recognized for its focus on site planning and integration of building and landscape. After graduation, I worked for Austin Patterson Disston in Southport, CT and Trumbull Architects in New York, NY. Both firms have received recognition for their residential projects. In 2008, after a decade working for high-end residential firms in Connecticut and New York, I launched David Neff, Architect on a full-time basis. I have completed numerous renovation and new construction projects in Connecticut, upstate New York, Long Island, and Palm Beach. My first project, a shingle style home in Connecticut, was featured in Traditional Home in an issue which profiled the “most sophisticated, young, traditional stylemakers nationwide.” For as long as I can remember, I have loved shingle style houses. Before I even entered architecture school, I began to drive up and down the coast, peering down driveways, and sketching and photographing houses. From there, I read every book and article I could find on the style. This website is an effort to make my favorite kind of house accessible to more than just those who have the time and money to commission a fully-custom home.
