PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Project Name: Nest Cabin
1. General Concept
The Nest Cabin is a tiny house–concept single-family dwelling, conceived as a lightweight architectural piece that gently rests on the land, evoking the image of a nest suspended in a tree. The design seeks a strong connection with the natural environment, prioritizing panoramic views, cross ventilation, and a direct sensory experience with the landscape.
The project is designed to be located in beach areas or warm to temperate forest climates, adapting naturally to settings where the surroundings become the main architectural feature. Its elevated volume minimizes ground impact while protecting the structure from moisture, wildlife, and typical environmental conditions of these regions.
2. Structural System and Construction
The cabin is built using a steel structural system, composed of frames and triangulated elements that serve a dual purpose:
Structural, ensuring stability and strength.
Expressive, reinforcing the visual concept of lightness and elevation.
This system allows for fast, efficient, and modular construction, making it ideal for tourism developments or short-term rental projects, while reducing construction time and environmental impact. The steel structure is complemented by lightweight enclosures, large-format glazing, and low-maintenance finishes.
3. Site Placement and Environmental Relationship
The dwelling is elevated above the ground, creating a semi-open ground floor that functions as a transitional space between exterior and interior. This design strategy:
Enhances natural ventilation.
Protects the building in humid or coastal areas.
Strengthens the concept of “living among the trees.”
Views are strategically framed to highlight the surrounding landscape, turning each level into a unique spatial experience.
4. Architectural Program
Ground Floor – Access Level
This level serves as the arrival and service area, maintaining a close relationship with the terrain:
Arrival lounge / flexible living space
Guest bathroom
Laundry room
Semi-open area adaptable as a terrace or outdoor relaxation space
This level forms the functional base of the project.
Second Floor – Social Area
The second floor houses the social core of the cabin, fully open to the landscape:
Integrated kitchen
Dining area
Panoramic views through large glazed surfaces
The open-plan layout creates a seamless connection between interior and exterior, maximizing natural light and cross ventilation.
Third Floor – Private Area
Located at the highest point of the project, this level is designed to capture the best views of the site, reinforcing the experience of “inhabiting the nest”:
Spacious master bedroom
En-suite bathroom
Walk-in closet
Open views and a sense of elevated refuge
The height and visual privacy turn this floor into an intimate and contemplative retreat.
5. Materials and Architectural Expression
The combination of exposed steel structure, glass enclosures, and warm materials such as wood or textured finishes creates a balance between industrial and natural aesthetics. This material palette reinforces the idea of a contemporary, lightweight architecture that blends harmoniously with its surroundings.
6. Use and Commercial Potential
The Nest Cabin is conceived as an ideal unit for short-term rental platforms such as Airbnb, glamping sites, or eco-lodges, thanks to:
Its efficient size (tiny house concept).
Its strong architectural identity.
Rapid construction process.
High experiential and aesthetic value.
The project is easily replicable, adaptable to different terrains, and highly attractive to users seeking unique nature-based stays.
7. Design Concept
The core idea behind the project is the nest in a tree:
a lightweight, elevated refuge that offers protection and comfort while allowing occupants to observe the landscape without dominating it, integrating naturally with its environment.
From this concept emerges its name:
